Our lab use quantitative live cell imaging and optogenetics to understand signaling underlying beta cell function in both health and diabetes. Current projects are focused on the role of signaling lipids as regulators of insulin secretion and on the role of physical contacts between cellular organelles as putative reaction centers that control organelle functions.
