Rebecca Hull is a Research Associate Professor of Medicine at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and University of Washington in Seattle. Her research is focused on identifying and studying novel aspects of the islet milieu that contribute to β-cell dysfunction in type 2 diabetes. A major current focus of her group is the role of the islet endothelial cell. Her group has found that islet endothelial cells express biochemical markers of dysfunction under diabetic conditions, that hyperglycemia contributes to this dysfunctional phenotype and that these dysfunctional islet endothelial cells may contribute to impaired insulin release in diabetes.
